GEOGRAPHER

GEOGRAPHER

Geographer is a dreamy painkiller.

Mike Deni, otherwise known as Geographer, paid a visit to The Independent in San Francisco this past weekend for the final show of his Leaving the Garden State Tour. Typically, when I’ve attended the final night of a tour, you can tell that the performers are giving their all: their emotions on full display, their sounds in perfect synchronicity, their sweat running down their chest.

The Jersey-born-turned-San Francisco-local and accompanying drummer were no exception.

Six full LPs and one b-sides record under his belt, Geographer is a master craftsman of the synth-pop genre. Playing fan-favorites such as Kites and Original Sin off of his 2010 album, Animal Shapes, Geographer delivered a dreamily energetic set for the sold-out crowd.

Even though his tour is over, you’d be wise to check him out the next time he comes to town.
